1. Find and delete the most difficult emails in seconds
Files large nozzles mainly responsible for Gmail space usage: videos, presentations, PDF long files or backups sent by mail. Instead of looking for them one by one, Gmail lets you find them from the search bar.
To do this, I wrote the following commands so the system automatically filters the most difficult messages and shows them to you:
- more: 10M for letters larger than 10 MB
- more: 25M for particularly large messages
- File name: pdf, more than: 5M for pdfs larger than 5 MB
Once the results appear, you can select all visible emails and delete them in bulk. Repeating the process with different sizes usually frees up several gigabytes in a few minutes.

2. Delete old emails that are no longer needed in one go
Another big space hog is old posts that lost their relevance years ago. Gmail lets you filter emails by date. To do this, in the search bar I wrote:
- before: and then a date. This way, Gmail will show you all the previous emails.
- older_than: X years Here, replace the X with a number and that’s how you’ll see messages with any length of experience.
This method is ideal for large cleanings. After applying the filter, simply select emails and delete them in bulk without going through conversation by conversation.
3. Empty shares and accumulated subscriptions
Newsletters, commercial messages, and push notifications often clutter up your inbox and silently take up space. Gmail offers two ways to decide quickly.
The first is to use automatic tabssuch as Promotions or Social, if activated. From there, you can select all messages and delete them with a few clicks.
The second is to look for direct marketing emails with this command in the search bar: “unsubscribe” o Unsubscribe
This filter groups messages that include unsubscribe links, a clear sign of promotional emails. By deleting them en masse, you reduce both visual clutter and usage storage.
