Xiaomi has almost everything ready to take the next step with its operating system on a global level, and this is what we have been seeing for months in the Chinese market and it finally reaches us. After weeks of internal testing, the company has finished polishing HyperOS 3.1 based on Android 16, and the final versions are ready to hit its most advanced handsets in the next few days, so we couldn’t be happier on that front.
In fact, on February 28, during the presentation of the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17, the company showed us some of the most interesting new features of this new update, and among them, perhaps the most striking thing – that compatibility with Apple devices perform daily iPhone activities on Chinese brand terminals, functionalities that will soon reach more devices, which we are going to tell you about in the following lines.
An important twist: Xiaomi is looking (and quite) towards Apple
Without a doubt, one of the most striking things about HyperOS 3.1 is the approach that Xiaomi has chosen to take to integration between devices. There is nothing to do here only to improve its own ecosystem, but to facilitate coexistence with Apple productssomething that until now has always been quite limited, not only in Xiaomi itself, but in general in the entire ecosystem that surrounds Android.

In this new version, we will see much more complete compatibility with AirPods, including them pop-ups showing battery and connection statusa new look for recent programs, clearly inspired by the Apple system, a remote connection to a MacBook to reproduce the screen of our Xiaomi without the need for cables, much more agile file sharing, improvements in HyperIsland and even the POCO launcher receives this redesign, so we cannot say that the changes are few.
The feeling is quite clear: Xiaomi wants to make the use of devices of different brands not a headache, and a good example is also the launch of the Xiaomi Tag and even the new Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W. It’s all pretty much over, now we just have to see When will we start seeing this update after Xiaomi 17 Although, yes, at least we already have confirmation that it will reach the following brands of devices within the next few weeks:
- Xiaomi 17
- Xiaomi 17 ultra
- REDMI K90
- REDMI K90 Pro Max
- REDMI Turbo 5
- REDMI Turbo 5 Max
- Xiaomi Pad 8
- Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro
In the world of Xiaomi | Xiaomi 17 Ultra, first impressions: We have a monster here, and I hope they do so well
