With over one thousand different known species and counting titled creatures included Pokemon the world comes in all shapes and sizes. Some, even when fully grown, are incredibly tiny, while others tower over the rest, and that’s not counting the Dynamax or Gigantamax forms.
Throughout the franchise’s long history, there have been many Pokemon that have set new size records in one way or another, and more are likely to break them in the years to come. Whether they’re legendary or even common, there are quite a few Pokemon that are literally larger than life.
10 Giratina/Giratina (form of origin)
Giratina is a devastating legendary Pokemon that was banished to the Distortion World long ago and now rules this dimension. True to its status, Giratina is very large, as are many legendaries, making it twice as intimidating as it was before. And there is a marked difference between its two forms.
In its base “altered form”, Giratina measures an impressive 14’09”, but in its alternate “origin form”, Giratina grows even larger, reaching 22’08”. Its enormous size is matched only by its infamous brutal meanness, as well as its immense strength.
9 Dialog/Dialog (form of origin)
Dialga is a legendary Pokemon whose very existence controls the flow of time and can easily travel between the past, present, and future. Of course, with such a status, it has such a growth that it even gives Giratina a chance to make money.
Dialga’s most famous form is a substantial 17’09”, but like his fellow legendary Sinoch, his origin form goes even further, giving him a maximum height of 22’11”. This led to Dialgo becoming the undisputed highest ranked Pokémon among the Legends of the Shino Region.
8 Ultranecrosis
In his first form, Necrozma isn’t all that tall at a measly 7’10”. Quite small for a legendary Pokemon, but it manages to gain momentum when paired with Solgaleo or Lunala, but even those forms are dwarfed by the size of its most powerful form, Ultra Necrozma.
In addition to its terrifying new appearance, devastating power, and desire for all light, Ultra Necrozma is also huge, reaching 24’07”. It not only eclipses the other two members of the “Light Trio” in power, but also makes it the largest among them.
7 Kyogre/Primal Kyogre
As a legendary Pokemon that controls the world’s vast oceans, the “Sea Pool Pokemon”, Kyogre, is suitably massive. In its normal form, this large orca-like Pokemon stands at 14’09”, but in its “primal form”, Kyogre is much taller than that.
Reaching a gigantic size of 32’02”, Primal Kyogre is more than twice the size of its original form, a fitting size for a powerful Pokemon that not only rules the seas, but can submerge the entire world in salty waters if it so chooses. Truly a size to match the tidal waves, which he is capable of.
6 Onix line
The Onix family has been known as some of the largest Pokemon since the beginning, as these stone snakes reach considerable heights. By itself, Onix can reach 28’10”, which is already impressive for a Pokemon in its first evolution, but after evolving to Steelix, it grows to 30’02”.
The Onix line already has incredible size, but they can get another boost if a trainer decides to Mega Evolve their Steelix into a Mega Steelix, reaching a maximum height of 34’05”. The Onix Evolved Line is capable of surpassing some legendaries by only life size.
5 Rayquaza/Mega Rayquaza
Legends and Pokédex entries say that Rayquaza lives high in the ozone layer, but when it descends and reveals itself, it’s hard to miss. This gigantic Dragon-type Pokemon stands at 23’00” in its normal form, but if allowed to Mega Evolve, Rayquaza could easily break that record.
As Mega Rayquaza, this Pokemon reaches 35’05”, even larger than Primal Groudon or the aforementioned Primal Kyogre. With this size, it’s no surprise that Rayquaza can break up any conflict between the other two legendaries of the Hoenn region.
4 Alolan Executor
Exeggutor from the Kanto region are known to stand at 6’07”, which is about human height, but not the largest Pokemon or even the tallest in its region. However, their cousins from the Alola region tower over them quite easily thanks to the large amount of sunlight they can get.
Alolan Exeggutor is almost ridiculously tall, reaching a height of 35’09”, a size that dwarfs more than a few legendaries by a few inches. As it turns out, sunbathing was the recipe for success Exeggutor needed to win the height game.
3 Dose
Dondozo is a catfish-like Pokemon that hails from the Paldeia region known for its large appetite, symbiosis with Tatsugiri, and of course its large size. Reaching 39’04”, the Dondozo is built like a tank and is not easy to drop.
Due to its incredible size and defense, Dondozo is able to hunt larger Pokemon to fill its large stomach, as well as why Tatsugiri can hide in its mouth to avoid predators, making the two a devastating combo for those who aren’t ready for them. .
2 Waylord
The ocean is home to many Pokemon that could be considered sea monsters for one reason or another, perhaps none more so than the giant sized Waylord. This whale-like Pokemon is large enough to make even cruise ships look downright tiny in comparison, and is capable of swallowing schools of fish Pokemon whole with ease.
At a gigantic 47ft 07in, it’s not hard to see why just standing above the water is enough to put some of his opponents out of action. Waylord has long held the record as one of the largest Pokemon ever known, and unlike the other entries on this list, it’s all without the help of alternate forms.
1 Eternal
It makes sense that the legendary Pokemon behind the Dynamax/Gigantamax forms would also be incredibly huge. Eternatus completely destroys its height rivals right from the start, as its base form is 65’07”. Of course, the Pokemon capable of re-igniting the Galar Regions of “Darkest Day” is nowhere to be found here.
In its special form, “Eternamax”, Eternatus grows to a whopping 328’01”, even surpassing the maximum size of the largest Gigantamax form that any other Pokemon is capable of. Alternate form or not, this makes Eternatus easily the largest Pokemon when ever known.
