What is Glare Free and why is it the best thing you can find in a new Samsung TV

There is nothing more annoying when watching TV than an annoying reflection in a dark place that prevents you from seeing the image that the screen is showing. We all know them and Samsung knows it too. That’s why he developed Glare Free technology.

What is Glare Free?

Glare Free is one of the most important advances in Samsung TVs in recent years. We’ve seen it in the South Korean brand’s range for several seasons now, and its aim is to eliminate annoying reflections that spoil the viewer’s experienceespecially if the images are very dark.

This technology is designed primarily for those who have brightly lit roomsin which it ends up reaching the screen directly or from the side, spoiling the experience of watching a good movie or any other content.

In addition, Samsung has designed Glare Free to the image quality remains unchangedand let’s continue to watch everything as if there was no extra layer of processing on our television.

How does Glare Free work and what is its advantage?

No glare 2

To achieve the benefits of Glare Free technology, Samsung uses a anti-reflective coating which provides a special panel surface treatment with a polarizing film and all this is combined in a special layered structure that we do not find in all their TVs, nor in all other brands.

This ensures minimal reflections and reduced light scattering, while the polarizing film absorbs ambient light. Thanks to this, the quality of the image that we would have in models that do not have this technology is preserved, and in addition improve viewing anglesallowing the picture to look sharp even when we are watching the TV from the side of it.

As for advantageschoosing a TV with Glare Free, as we have already said, will give us:

  • Pictures without glare
  • Contrast, color and sharpness as if without glare
  • More viewing angle, even from the sides
  • Less eye fatigue

In which models can we find Glare Free?

Now comes the bad news. When looking for a Samsung TV with Glare Free technology, the options are quite limited.

For now, Samsung reserves this technology for its high-end models. We will not find it in any Crystal UHD and QLED. To get a glare-free model, we’ll have to look at the Neo QLED and OLED ranges, not the entire range.

Glare Free is present only in OLED S95F, in Neo QLED 8K QN990F and QN900F and in the Neo QLED 4K QN90F.

It should be expected that, Over time and in future generations, Glare Free will be extended to more models. In fact, last year when it was introduced with the 2024 range, we could only find it in the S95D.

Models that have this technology are not the cheapest, but my recommendation to anyone who decides to buy a TV with certain features is to Stop by a physical store and see the difference before you start buying online without knowing what Glare Free has to offer. Especially if you plan to place the TV in a very bright place that receives direct light. The difference is huge, and trust me, it’s worth the extra cost.
