One of the more unique entries in the mainline series was a recent one Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwhich not only departed from the classic formula in many ways, but also introduced many new and powerful Pokémon, some with new type combinations. Pokemon games have a lot to offer when new generations drop, especially for those fans who are excited to get creatures with new Pokemon combo type, offering different strategies in battle. Although not all combinations of types in Pokemon games are so powerful that some are borderline unusable, a Fire/Fairy type creature is likely to be OP for a multitude of reasons.
Among the unused combinations of types in Pokemon there are a few games that players have been talking about for a long time because of how strong they are or just how unique they are in terms of design, such as the fan-favorite Bug/Dragon type that has yet to see the light of day. Some of them would also make sense for existing monks, such as Kophagrigus with Ghost and Rock or Yanmego with Beetle and Dragon. Although the Fire/Fairy evolution for Fuecoco in Gen 9 was originally leaked, it turned out to be fan art, but the concept remains and future games should use it.
Why would an unused Pokemon Fire/Fairy Type combo be OP
Some of the best type combinations in Pokemon games don’t necessarily have the best attack, but are able to hit because of their resistances and immunities or few weaknesses, while the opposite can also be true for a “strike first” style of play. A Fire/Fairy type will have a good balance between the two, with only four weaknesses, but a total of eight resistances and one immunity, while being able to deal seven types of hits for super effective damage.
When Fire and Fairy are combined, the Pokemon will be able to deal double damage to Fighting, Bug, Steel, Grass, Ice, Dragon, and Dark types with STAB moves, and assuming it doesn’t have any other type moves, only Fire would resist both. Speaking of defense, a Fire/Fairy type Pokemon will be weak to Poison, Earth, Rock, and Water, but will resist at 50% Fighter, Fire, Grass, Ice, Dark, and Fairy, at 75% Bug, and will be immune to Dragon-type moves . Fairy is one of the best types in Pokemon on its own, like Fire, this means that together they can be very powerful.
The fact that Enchanted-type Pokemon deal double damage to Dragon creatures and also take no damage from Dragon moves is one of their best traits, especially considering that Legendary and Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon are often Dragons. The same is true for Dark types, who often dominate any meta due to priority moves, pranksters, foul play, and other gimmicks, while Fairy counters these attacks and deals double damage to such Pokémon as well. On the other hand, Fire is great for coverage against Steel, which is usually one of the biggest problems for Fairy Pokemon, and is also Burn’s signature type as a status condition.
A Fire/Cossack type Pokemon that can burn opponents, deal with powerful Steel and Dragon types, and have multiple advantages in battle will likely be one of the best in the series depending on its stats and overall build. For example, a Normal/Steel Pokemon will be OP defensively, but will struggle on the offensive side of things, which Fire/Faie creatures won’t have to worry too much about. A great way to introduce this type would be to pass it on to Gen 10 Pokemon Games’ Fire starter, as first partner mons usually have decently balanced stats, abilities, and move pools.
