There is nothing new in this Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10 last October 2025, so this version of the popular operating system remains an alternative subject to security gaps and performance problems. However, the truth is that the tenth edition of the patch still refuses to leavebecause it still has users who prefer it on their PCs over the already built one Windows 11. Why this resistance?
Windows 11 is not convincing
According to the Statcounter report prepared last October 2025, the share of Windows 11 was 55.18%. By November, it had fallen to 53.7 points, and in December it fell to 50.73, a significant difference that contrasts with what was shown by its predecessor.

For its part, Windows 10 grew from 41.71% to 44.68% over the same period, and even the aging Windows 7 grew from 2.52% to 3.83%.
Although a mass migration was expected since the launch of Windows 11, the trend of these years has shown that this is not the case and many have decided to stick with Windows 10. Although it is an unsupported version, for many it continues to offer an effective experience without many limitations.
What is not happening with Windows 11, as the perception of a large part of users is unfavorable due to changes in the interface, the redesign of the Start menu, a less universal taskbar, as well as the integration of cloud services and tools enhanced by artificial intelligence.
Somewhat complicated requirements
Likewise, one of the issues why migration has slowed down is the difficulty of users meeting the technical requirements. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and modern, non-budget processors. All of these patching flaws only cause performance issues, app incompatibilities, and updates that never run. More than one person has a headache.
Likewise (as seen in the cover photo), Microsoft is almost overly pushy about its community updating software, with intrusive on-screen messages that get in the way of day-to-day use.
Added to this is a January 2026 patch called KB5074109, which caused a variety of performance issues ranging from the inability to establish connections to lockups when the hardware is turned off or hibernates and crashes in apps related to cloud services.
