Children and Screens: YouTube’s domination and artificial intelligence
85% parents say their children under 12 years use YouTube and almost half do it every day
A recent Pew research center showed how children under 12 are immersed in the digital world from a young age. “Six out of ten parents say that even their children under 2 are using YouTube,” the study said.
Google’s platform consolidates itself as an epicenter of children’s entertainment, although it will not avoid criticism for advertising and content that is not suitable for minors. Despite the warnings, parents admit that it also serves to study and distract.
The study is detailed that the use of YouTube in children up to 2 years grew from 45% to 62% between 2020 and 2024. In addition, 10% of parents claim that their children have already interacted with chats between 5 and 12 years, such as chatpp or twins, while four out of ten use voice assistants.
In terms of social networks, the tick leads among the children, followed by Snapchat and Instagram. Eight of ten parents believe that these platforms bring more harm than benefits, although many admit that giving the screen has become part of a family routine.
