NASA will include in Artemis II a memory card with all the names of the people who register

NASA’s Artemis II mission scheduled for 2026 yearwill be piloted not only by the four already confirmed astronauts: Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansenbut for anyone who registers on the NASA website.

It will obviously not be literal, but rather the names of the registrants will be included in the USB memory which will fly in Orion, on a journey that will circle the Moon and return to Earth.

What is NASA’s mission with Artemis II?

On their own website, they explain what they are looking for: “NASA is going to send astronauts to explore the Moon to make scientific discoveries, to reap economic benefits and lay the groundwork for the first manned missions to Mars.”

“The mission, which will last about 10 days, It will launch from Launch Complex 39B of the Kennedy Space Center no later than April 2026,” the published message says.

As for the trip, it will be as follows: “The route will have a figure of eight that will extend more than 370,000 kilometers (230,000 miles) from Earth. At maximum distance, the crew will fly about 7,400 kilometers (4,600 miles) beyond the Moon, evaluating the spacecraft’s systems along the way.”

They also issue a warning to those starting the process: “Don’t lose your PIN. NASA can’t recover a lost PIN, so you’ll have to save yours if you want to look up your boarding pass in the future.”
