Yume Magazine – Take-Two CEO Denies Artificial Intelligence Could Create Something Like GTA 6

Strauss-Zelnick insists that great success requires human creativity, not just technology.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again made clear his stance on artificial intelligence in video games: he doesn’t believe it can create an experience on the level of Grand Theft Auto VI. While he acknowledges that technology can help improve processes and speed up development, he asserts that “creating success of this scale requires human commitment and creativity,” ruling out the idea that AI can create successful games on its own.

Zelnick also questioned the belief that these tools would allow anyone to create a hit, noting that the industry has always embraced new technology without replacing creative talent. He even made a pretty direct comparison: using artificial intelligence doesn’t guarantee memorable results, just like a good PowerPoint presentation doesn’t automatically make you a valuable person in the company.

While he does not rule out the use of artificial intelligence for specific tasks such as asset creation, his position is clear: tools can support but not replace the creative process. At a time when AI seems to want to be involved in everything, Zelnick opts for something simpler—and perfectly logical—: without humans behind it, there’s no game that really connects.
