Dark Pokémon Lore that will change the way you look at gaming

The Mega Evolution Pokédex entries are full of examples of the victim being driven into a frenzy. Towns are mean even at the best of times, but at least they usually listen to the coach’s commands. Mega Gyarados, meanwhile, are effectively lobotomized and only know how to destroy. Ghost types like Mega Gengar and Mega Bonet are filled with Pazuzu and try to curse everything around them, including their trainers. And yet, despite this, some Mega Evolutions are even worse, with Mega Scizor and Mega Houndoom producing so much energy that they can start to melt. Maybe it’s a good thing Game Freak got rid of Mega Evolution.

Real ghosts haunt the Pokemon world

In the world Pokemon, Ghost types are a known number. They may be floating, semi-intangible beings, but they still eat, sleep, and reproduce. In other words, ghost types are alive, not true ghosts. however, factual ghosts exist in different Pokemon regions, and unlike ghost-type Pokemon, they are not easy to explain.

Perhaps one of the most infamous examples of an actual living…er, dead ghost appearing in Pokemon the mysterious Hex Maniac from Lumiose City. As the name suggests, this ghost uses the Hex Maniac model and only appears in Lumiose City (specifically on the second floor of one of its buildings). As you get on the elevator, she materializes behind you, says, “No, you’re not the one…” and walks off-screen. It does not walk, but swims. And if you follow her, you won’t find her. Who is she? What does she want? Who is she looking for? Nobody knows. The character is shrouded in mystery, but the eerie way she moves, appears and disappears has led players to believe she is a ghost. But while only the players, and by extension the main character, have seen this ghost, they are not the only game characters with spectral vision.

Many Trainers, Gym Leaders, and Elite Four members who use ghost types have a spirit connection. Sometimes they are just possessed, but some, like Phoebe, are mediums. Her connection to the afterlife is part of her character, but until now no one knew how deep that connection was Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Her opening battle cutscene starts off fine, but as she fades to black, you can notice that something has appeared on her chair in the final shot. Then the scene gets really creepy. The camera moves oddly, as if it is from the perspective of someone walking. The most obvious explanation is that the game spawned an NPC to act as a wobbly, creepy camera, but if that’s true, explain that in the next scene, the child NPC is mostly hidden by the main character’s giant head. No one admits it, but it is there.

This inexplicable NPC isn’t the only ghost in the game. At the top of Pyre Mountain, as Team Magma/Team Aqua steal the respective orbs, an elderly couple is standing next to them. However, when you return later in the game, the old one is gone. Phoebe is nearby, seemingly speaking to nothing, but she claims to be speaking to her grandmother’s spirit. Given what Phoebe says, the old man on top of the mountain is her grandfather, which would make the woman who was with him Phoebe’s grandmother, who Phoebe later claims is… dead. But you saw her alive earlier in the game, right? right?

Amazing haunted house and old castle

Traditional ghost stories claim that disembodied spirits are attached to certain locations. This is the truth of the world Pokemonand, like ghost legends in the real world, some are more active than others.
